When you are separated from your baby for any length of time it can be devastating. Many moms are discharged just 48 hours later while their babies begin their week long and sometimes month long journey in the NICU. Some have to travel miles, even across county lines to visit their babies depending on where they deliver. Trying to navigate NICU is emotional, confusing and challenging. Add the financial burden of paying for parking, or lodging every time you want to see them, help care for them or hold them and it can end up being a barrier for some families to be there. Our Family Assistance Hospital Fund will give hospitals the opportunity to give parents parking, take care of their hotel costs and provide a meal or two so they don’t have to think about the “cost” every time they want to be with their baby.
