30 Days of Hope | Caroline
"Our sweet girl was born at 33 weeks unexpectedly and unexplained after three healthy and full term pregnancies. She was 4lbs and immediately whisked away to the NICU.
Her journey there was 19 days long and full of firsts for all of us. They were full of steps forward and many steps backward. I will never forget the gut wrenching feeling of going home to rest and coming back to the NICU to them telling us she had a rough night. I will also never forget the incredible feeling and the joy in the nurse’s voice over the phone the morning she passed her car seat test and she got to tell us our girl was going home that day!
The day we got to bring her home to meet her siblings felt like the greatest feats we have overcome as a family. Our sweet girl is so loved and has skyrocketed since coming home. Every time we take her to the pediatrician, they say, “33 weeker who?”
She is now four months old and right on track for growth and milestones for her actual age, not adjusted. It’s all I prayed for during those long days and nights of staring at her in her incubator.
Hold on mamas (and dads) there is a beautiful life ahead with your NICU warrior." NICU Mama, Caroline
