“We were referred to maternal fetal medicine practitioner where he had to inform us of the risk for TTTS, fast forward 2 weeks to the official TTTS diagnosis and finding a provider to have the procedure to save my boys.
We flew from Boston to Baltimore to meet with Dr. Baschat to have the laser ablation procedure done, thankfully full success to save both boys - we were able to go home.
I was closely being monitored bi-weekly to weekly, and with clearance from the medical team we were cleared to drive to New Jersey to have my baby shower at 28 weeks. As we were driving down on I-95 in Connecticut the boys had other plans with my water breaking at exactly 28 weeks due to PPROM. We were instructed to go to the closet hospital thankfully being a level 3 NICU to be monitored. Fortunately, we were able to be transported back to Massachusetts were I was admitted and the boys were being closely monitored.
The boys sat tight for 6 days and decided they were ready to party and were born at 28+6 weeks. Baby A (Cameron Ryan weighed 2lb 8 oz) Baby B (Hudson Aleksander weighed 2 lb 14oz) tiny but mighty!
Thankfully their NICU stay wasn’t too long; Cameron 69 days and Hudson 67 days, all they had to do was grow and develop💙
The entire team at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, Massachusetts were the bravest and most supportive which helped make the extensive stay easier knowing they were in great hands. The care and compassion the staff had made it easier to leave my boys daily for 69 days.” NICU Mom, Heather
