Fighter Jet

“This is the story of our miracle baby Jet.

Aug. 2023, at my 20 week anatomy scan I was diagnosed with placental insufficiency. Further imaging results went on to show that my baby had IUGR.

With this being my first pregnancy I couldn’t believe how unfair this was.

Even worse, there was absolutely no explanation as to what caused this.

Due to baby being smaller I figured by eating a ton I could increase his weight in the womb. However at 26 weeks I was diagnosed with severe preeclampsia. I needed to get admitted ASAP.

Oct. 17 2023 I was admitted to the hospital for further monitoring.

I was only 6 months pregnant. I knew I’d be there for a while. I was prepping myself to spend the next 3 months in there.

The week I was admitted my meals were monitored, my blood was drawn every morning & I had to wear a monitor around my belly constantly to track baby’s heartbeat.

I was admitted Tuesday night & on Friday night Jet’s heartbeat kept decelerating. My high risk doctor made the call for me to deliver the next day.

I was so scared! My due date wasn’t until Jan. 24 2024.

Baby Jet was born Sat. Oct. 21 2023 at 4:04 pm weighing 1lb 1.6 oz. & 10.23 in. via c-section.

He was instantly intubated & rushed to the hospitals NICU.

Born at 26 weeks Jet went on to spend the next 5 months in the NICU. Every single day he was in there his dad & I visited. We did not miss a day for 158 days! We didn’t want to leave his side.

I remember how much stress we felt each time one of his machines went off.

It was a long & difficult road but we made it. In the end everything worked out.

Jet is a fighter & strongest baby I know!

He was sent home on O2 & an NG tube but no longer needs both. He has come such a long way that we are so proud of him!

I will forever be grateful & indebted to the amazing doctors & nurses at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children. For saving my baby’s life & for being there for us during the hardest time of our life.

We love you baby Jet!!! “
