30 Days of Brave | Dad, Ryan
“When I think about bravery, I think about a tiny 3 lb 1 oz baby boy and his mommy.
A mom who was hospitalized hours from home with preeclampsia while on a trip to visit family. Then being told she was being transferred to a hospital with a NICU and she would not be going home without a baby.
Bravery is handling a three hour ambulance ride in the middle of the night through the winding mountain roads of West Virginia. Then being taken in for a C-section a day later because her amniotic fluid was gone.
Bravery is when you are born 8 weeks early and growth restricted. It is fighting hard day in and day out for 27 days in the NICU to gain weight.
Bravery is when you are recovering from being cut open and are completely physically and emotionally drained and you keep showing up everyday to care for and love you baby.
As the dad of a NICU graduate, I know bravery because I witnessed it every day in my wife and son.” NICU Dad, Ryan
